Tutor Professionalism & Code of Conduct
-
Tutors should present themselves professionally in all interactions with their students, school districts, and Littera staff. Among factors to keep in mind are a professional, office-like, non-distracting background with a stable internet connection, appropriate attire, and use of appropriate language. Tutoring from a vehicle is strictly prohibted.
-
Tutors should ensure that all messages sent to Littera through tutorsupport@litteraeducation.com or other methods are professionally and respectfully worded.
-
It is expected that tutors will respond to messages from Littera by the response time requested, or at most within 24 hours of receipt of the message, barring unforeseen circumstances. Tutors who repeatedly fail to respond to messages may have tutoring series reassigned or may have their tutoring accounts inactivated.
- Tutors should reach out to tutorsupport@litteraeducation.com within 24 hours in the event of an impacted session, such as a missed or late declined session. Tutors who repeatedly miss sessions, or who late decline (either Littera assigned or self-assigned substitute sessions) will have tutoring sessions reassigned, reduced substitute opportunities and may have their tutoring accounts inactivated.
- Please keep in mind that all information about students, their sessions, the curriculum, and the Littera platform is confidential and must not be shared outside of Littera.
- It is strictly prohibited for tutors to conduct tutoring sessions while under the influence of substances causing impaired judgment or behavior, and from smoking or vaping during tutoring sessions. Tutors who violate this policy will have their tutor agreement terminated.
- Student Privacy and Confidentiality Protecting the privacy and dignity of our students is our highest priority. As a tutor, you will have access to sensitive information regarding student academic performance, behavior, and personal backgrounds. You are required to maintain strict confidentiality at all times, adhering to the following guidelines:
- Assigned Students: You may only discuss the progress, behavior, or personal details of the students directly assigned to your roster with authorized program administrators, the student’s designated classroom teacher, or their parent/guardian. You must not discuss your students with other tutors, friends, family members, or any unauthorized individuals.
- Unassigned Students: Tutors must strictly avoid discussing, gossiping about, or inquiring about students who are not currently on their assigned roster. If another tutor, school staff member, or student attempts to engage you in a conversation about an unassigned student, you must politely decline to participate and redirect the conversation.
-
Public and Digital Spaces: Sharing student names, identifying details, anecdotes, or session recordings on social media, public forums, or in public spaces (even if names are omitted) is strictly prohibited.
- Tutors are asked to review the Student and Tutor Code of Conduct.
- Tutors are asked to review the Littera Tutor Expectations.
