Sick Leave Policy for tutors in New York, New Jersey, California, Minnesota, Michigan, Colorado, Nevada and Arizona
The states of New York, New Jersey, California, Minnesota, Michigan, Colorado, Nevada and Arizona have mandated sick leave for all of their state residents. As other states enact sick leave laws, we will add to this article. This only pertains to those tutors who reside in these states.
- Tutors need to submit a Zendesk support center ticket to tutorsupport@litteraeducation.com within 24 hours of the requested sick time. One week before the requested sick days is the earliest/maximum.
- Mandatory information in the support center ticket:
- What lessons are you canceling due to illness for which you would like to use your accrued sick leave? (include date(s) and time(s) of the sessions)
- Add written/typed confirmation that you have declined the impacted sessions and that you have closed any open calendar availability on the impacted days on your calendar.
- Mandatory information in the support center ticket:
- The tutor then needs to go into Rippling and request Sick Leave, this will alert the Littera team to the request. The Littera Team will then check to make sure all the steps needed have been completed before approving the request.
- Tutors can only use accrued sick leave and cannot borrow against future hours.
- Prior to submitting the Zendesk ticket: Scheduled sessions should be declined per the normal process of clicking “can’t attend” on your tutor calendar to ensure that there are no currently scheduled sessions on the tutor calendar for the requested sick leave time.
- Calendar availability for the requested day(s) has been removed from the tutor availability calendar prior to submitting the Zendesk ticket.
- Tutors are responsible for any sessions that book to their tutor calendar due to the time not being removed due to requesting sick leave.
- Platform- how to track the lesson?
- Report will be created with the inputs: tutor name, beginning of sick leave (date), end of sick leave (date)
- Report will return all sessions during that time the tutor was ever assigned to, and consider payable:
- Sessions where tutor was previously tutor of record (tutor declined), and sessions were declined no more than 7 days in advance of PTO date
- Sessions where tutor is listed as tutor of record (tutor did not decline session and session was missed) are not considered payable
- Tutors have sick time available after the 60 day wait period from the start date and are eligible for sick leave on day 61 of part-time tutor status.
- If session not declined and shows as missed the session is not payable.
